The Yellowknife Gymnastics Club is a non-profit, volunteer organization. We rely on our members to help out to so
that we can offer the best possible programs and activities for our athletes.
Effective September of 2003, the Yellowknife Gymnastics Club has implemented a mandatory volunteer participation policy.
RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
For every child who participates in the recreational program, his or her family will be required to provide a minimum of
3 hours of volunteer time to the Club for each session in which he or she participates (Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer) For
families who have more than two children in the program, there will be a cap of six required volunteer hours.
The registration fee for each child participating in the recreational program will include a Volunteer Deposit of $90.00
per session (with a cap of $180.00 per family) payable at the time of registration in the form of a cheque or Visa authorization
post dated to the last day of the session.
COMPETITIVE and PRE-COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
For every child who participates in a Competitive or Pre-Competitive Program (including Super Kids), his or her family
will be required to provide a minimum of 12 hours of volunteer time to the Club each gymnastics season (September to August).
For families who have more than two children in a competitive or pre-competitive program, there will be a cap of twenty four
required volunteer hours..
The registration fee for each child participating in a Competitive or Pre-Competitive program will include a Volunteer
Deposit of $360.00 per year (with a cap of $720.00 per family) payable at the time of registration in the form of a cheque
or Visa authorization post dated to June 30th.
REBATE OF VOLUNTEER DEPOSIT
The Volunteer Deposit will be rebated to the participant at the rate of $30.00 for each volunteer hour completed by the
participant or his/her family members. The rebated amount will be refunded to each athlete when his or her volunteer obligations
have been met or, at the end of each session, to the extent of the rebate earned. If a child withdraws from the program prior
to the second class of the session, the Volunteer Deposit cheque will be returned in full. If a child withdraws after the
second class of the session, the volunteer deposit (to the extent not rebated) will be refunded at the time of withdrawal.
Any amount not rebated will be forfeited to the Club.
EXCEPTION
Every year the Club undertakes a raffle as its major fund raising event of the year. Every family is expected to sell at
least one book of tickets. The time spent selling your own book of tickets will not be credited to your volunteer hours.
However, time spent selling other tickets at pre-arranged times and dates will be credited to your volunteer hours.
